I have chosen to reflect on Bill Rodgers’ Video ‘Dealing with distractions confidently’. I found the strategies Rodgers provided to be very direct and explicit. I believe the ideas and examples Rodgers put forth were respectful and were also time efficient. By stating the rules and calmly and confidently providing the students with a choice, it minimises the chance of the distraction escalating into a battle. Rodgers demonstrated excellent strategies that made me feel confidently manage situations without them escalating into an argument. I found the example of the boy listening to an iPod really relevant to the distractions that occur with in a classroom. I also appreciated that he was able to convey affective strategies that
