The fall
a) The hero experiences some kind of downfall or fallback
b) In the Hobbit one major setback is when the Trolls capture the dwarves and the horses disappear, making there journey a little longer than it should be.
c) A secondary example is in Cinderella, Cinderella plans to go to the ball so she makes a dress but the evil step sisters ruin it so that she can’t go. This in the end makes her have to spend a little more time on her dress than she planned. Just like in The Hobbit.
6. Magic Weapon
a) Refers to a situation where an individual, often times a hero, has the ability to use a special weapon. The purpose of the weapon is to help them on a journey, defeat evil, or to prove the hero's identity.
b) The invisibility ring that Bilbo finds from under a rock in Gollum’s cave is the archetypal magic weapon in the Hobbit. He uses the ring multiple times to not only save himself but others from his enemies.
c) A secondary example is in Thor the movie, Thor has a hammer that would be the archetypal magic weapon in the movie. Thor uses the hammer to beat all of the villains and save the world just like Bilbo does in The
