Benefits Of Tracking Sleep

Tracking my sleep with a sleep log made me realize that I am not getting enough sleep and that this correlates with my energy level, general mood, appetite, and class performance. The main are I need to improve on is the amount of sleep I get. My sleep quality is overall very good and I tend to not wake up at night, but in terms of quantity, I am not getting enough sleep. I usually go to sleep at around 12:30 AM and wake up at around 7:15 AM. This means that I am getting approximately seven hours of sleep each night. This is significantly less than the 9-10 hours of sleep I should be getting every night. Because of this low amount, my energy level is very low as well as my attention level and class performance. My energy level tends to be …show more content…
I should start paying attention to when I go to sleep because I want to start to get more sleep. I also realized that one of the main reasons why I think I have so much homework is because when I do it, I don’t focus on it completely. This leads to me spending excess time on it. I usually have about two hours of downtime every day, which is more than I thought I had. If I start to manage my time better, I could use this time to work on other non-school related things. I am going to try to limit my distractions while doing homework, these distractions include my phone, TV, and music. By sticking to this, I hopefully will be able to maximize my efficiency. This will most likely lead to me getting more sleep every night. Some areas that went well for me this week were my general mood and getting uninterrupted sleep. My mood seemed to improve as the week progressed and I usually did not wake up while sleeping. This week, I managed to wake up at around the same time every day. This is usually not common for me because I try to catch up on sleep over the weekends which leads to me sleeping in quite a bit. Waking up at around the same time every day enabled me to have more time over the weekend to myself and to do homework. This added to my goal of maximizing efficiency. Overall, this project really showed me my strengths and weakness when it comes to managing a solid sleep routine. This project also showed me that by managing my time well, I may be able to change my after school routine for the

Furthermore, while earlier start times may encourage adolescents to be responsible for managing their time to get ready and be on time for school, teens would create poor sleep habits as they develop anxiety and stress from being required to wake up early. Furthermore, even if they would have to face trying to manage their extracurricular activities, students would be able to sleep earlier and wake up the next morning to finish school responsibilities while gaining concentration from meeting the recommended hours of sleep. Without a doubt, if schools change their starting times later, one major leap is taken to ensure students’ and teachers’ sleep needs are met so that they are able to sleep and function during the school…

In recent years I’ve come to terms with the fact that I need at least 8 hours of sleep to be able to function normally during the day and ideally between 9 and 10 to feel fully rested and energised all day. On average, in the past six days I got 8.8 hours of sleep, one night I only got 7.5 hours, the lowest in my recording, and the most I got was 10 hours. The night I was able to sleep for 10 hours (9/23), I felt fairly happy, not stressed, and quite energized even though I was fairly anxious throughout the day. On the other hand, the night I only slept for 7.5 hours (9/27), I had hardly any energy, I wasn’t alert mentally, and I felt generally bad. Now, it’s impossible for me to say that the amount of sleep I got was the deciding factor in…
