Being Rude Research Paper

Decent Essays
I am writing to you because of the article you have published ‘Why are the youth today so rude?’ posted in the Telegraph on the 15th June. This article is completely unspeakable. To clarify, I am sickened by the opinions of the journalist that wrote this/published. I have several valid reasons that I would like to share with you: the narrow mindedness of an educated writer; his stereotypical opinions; his sheer arrogance.

Firstly, I am dismayed that this writer has the audacity to call young people rude. When you’re being rude by addressing them as rude. I think that that this guy is looking back at his life and he is not the only one that can make judgements because, in my perspective he sounds like he had a silver spoon in his mouth all

Within Kay S. Hymowitz’s article, she examines that as time has advanced children aren’t “children” and are taking on levels of maturity and issues that are past their caliber. Although Hymowitz’s argument is only one-sided given the fact that children in the 90s and mid-2000s have different circumstances and social “expectations” and “norms”. Through strategic statistical information as well as additional personal sediments and opinions presented by other influential educators, Hymowitz supports her given argument and examples. Despite Hymowitz’s rather bias claim regarding the overall maturity of children between the late 80s-early 90s to early 2000s-mid 2010s, she strategically utilizes rhetorical strategies, information, and statistics…

r Mr. Alleyne, Recently I have read your latest article on the sonic teenager deterrent (mosquito) and I am furious on your opinions towards the youth. The negativity in this article is overbearing. Although the mosquito may move these, “gangsters” away but the way you portray your thoughts imply teenagers are all behaving badly which is unacceptable as there is more INNOCENT teenagers in the world who still get affected by the, “mosquito alarm.” This article is highly biased towards the youth of the world.…

In their article in the New York Times, Todd Buchholz and Victoria Buchholz argue that Americans are somehow failing as a group. The so-called "Generation Y" is becoming complacent, not working toward making their lives (and the country) better off. The article is certainly intended to capture its audience's attention, with the title "The Go-Nowhere Generation. In it, they use hard data from the Pew Research Center and studies conducted at universities, among others. More interestingly, perhaps, is how they link this data and their claims to certain emotional stories, events, and ideas of our anscestors.…

Mansplaining is a derisive and condescending term insultingly used by women when referring to a man whom they are conversing with. The man's point is mocked not because his reasoning is faulty or his evidence is unreliable. In fact, his point is ridiculed simply on the basis of his gender. An example of mansplaining would be when British Members of Parliament explained to women that they don’t really want the vote in 1906. They stated, “Women would be neglecting their homes if they came into the House of Commons, and when they would be compelled to attend public meetings and to read all the newspapers and Blue-books and other dry documents, so as to fit themselves for the franchise.…

There comes a time in life when parents have to suck it up because their baby is growing up. Question #1: Take a look at page 162, the "Becoming an Adult" statistics section at the top. On the left, there is a list of 5 markers of adulthood that have NOT changed for people aged 18-29 and the corresponding percentages of early adults who have not experienced each by the age of 30. Do you believe that these are in fact markers that should occur for early adults before the age of 30? Each person has a different background and circumstances so for some people all of these markers should occur before 30 in order to be considered an adult, or others like me might only believe a few of them are absolutely necessary in early adulthood. I do not agree with the idea that a person needs to have a child before the age of 30 in order to be considered an adult, having a baby should happen only when you feel you are ready to take on that responsibility and for some that might be sooner than others.…

Stein argues how millennials will be the change the future needs and express his unwavering belief in them as a generation. In his attempt to persuade his readers, he makes cruel generalizations about the peer group saying that they are “lazy, entitled, selfish, and shallow” (Stein 28).Stein uses rhetorical strategies called pathos and ethos to help him effectively write this article. Pathos is the use of emotion to persuade readers while ethos is used to prove the credibility of the persuader. Stein’s purpose for writing the article is to persuade his audience that millennials…

Young people have continually been a huge subject in our society. People often define youth as just a period between childhood and adult age, but youth is not simply that. There can be a variety of different ways in which we can identify youth and its true meaning in relation to different aspects and influences in our surroundings. Youth can be argued as a social construct rather than a universal concept because everyone has different experiences in their lives and not everyone experiences youth. It is important to understand every aspect that contributes to what youth is, because there is so much more to youth than a group of people or an age.…
