A transactional leader can be unemotional and focused on the task at hand. During the recession, we had a period at my employer at the time where we letting staff go on a regular basis. I was tasked with having to inform employees that they were being let go and complete their exit interviews. This was not a fun process but one that I was able to complete in an unemotional way. I am always supportive of coworkers and subordinates. In transactional leadership theory, it is important that the managers support their employees. Whether it is extra training, supplies, or more staff I always made it a priority to make sure that my employees had what they needed to accomplish the task at hand. We had a period during the recession when we had laid off a large part of our staff but then we were placed under an audit. My team determined that more staff was needed and I made sure that we had temporary staff brought in to support
