The Renaissance was a period of advancement in various subjects. It was a time of great intellectual inquiry into all the branches of learning and fields of study. Philosophers, scientists, mathematicians, and artists began to examine the world around them with a stronger and deeper want and need for understanding the universe in which they lived. Since the early 1200s, there are many forms of architecture, sculpture, and architecture that are important bodies of work that present elements of the past and the future. Personally, the visually pleasing works of art are seen in paintings, from Berlinghieri, Bosh, Raphael, Caraccai, Tinteretto, and Michaelangelo. Each artist are influenced by the previous style period and have concepts that influence the following period. Firstly, in the early 1200s, the Proto-Renaissance shows the importance of religion through symbolism. Berlinghieri’s “St Francis Altarpiece” is important an important work of art because of the narrative seen in the background, St Francis is preaching to the birds and mountains; it shows that he is the first person to recognise the natural world as a gift from God.…

Paint has been in use from prehistoric times and has played an important role in decorative art over the centuries. Two of the oldest and most respected paints used by artists and craftsmen are tempera and oil paints. Used for centuries and easily made by the artist, in comparison to other paints, these were the primary paints of the Italian renaissance. These paints continued to be used in the centuries after, though tempera is not as popular as it once was, oil still remains a standard paint for modern artists. The basics of how these paints are made remain similar to the original techniques.…

The Italian Renaissance garden incorporates the villa they are stationed near into its design. Many aspects of the garden reflect the ideals of the Renaissance flooding through society; this flooding led to overflow into homes and, subsequently, gardens. Such aspects include the revival of classical antiquity, evident in the typical appearance of statues portraying characters from classical Grecian or Roman mythology, and archways and columns, and in La Pietra’s case, even a mini temple and theatre. Some gardens used excavated Roman sculptures that may have been restored, modified, or even displayed in fragments. More often than not, new works were commissioned in the classical style depicting a variety of gods, goddesses, and fantastic creatures…
Filippon Brunelleschi was commissioned by the Medici in 1418 to redesign this 11th-century Romanesque church and in the design Brunelleschi added Pietra Serena stone, domical vaults over side aisles and other architectural details. Brunelleschi’s design for San Lorenzo was not completed until after his death. Most of my focus will be on the contract between the Medici and Brunelleschi, since it was a deal just like the deals were done at the timee for other works of art.
