In “Painting and Experience in Fifteenth Century Italy” by Michael Baxandall, he emphasizes the relationship between the patron and the artist when creating a piece of work during that time. The Patron played an important role in the creation of many pieces in public places such as churches, and many had different reasons as to why they commissioned these works of art.
