These athletes deserve to be repaid. They make their schools millions and millions of dollars through tickets, food sales, and souvenir sales. Basically, larger Division 1 schools are making all their money off their players. They don’t have time to get a part-time job. Athletes are basically doing a full-time job when they play their sport. The NCAA allows athletes to work, but the time demands of their sports make that virtually impossible, even in their off-season. “I would try to find a way to compensate players for their time.” -Shane Battier, (former Duke basketball star) If these players fail in their quest to turn pro, their life is basically over.
