Basketball Game
The cold and freezing morning started our day to the

basketball game. The team all in warm coats and fur

hats. They hopped on the bus getting ready to go to

Cosaco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. On the way to the

game we stopped because there was construction. All I

could see was men in yellow hardhats and orange jackets

walking and working hard . When we got past the

construction we were on our way to the game. When we

pulled in the fans all in warm

clothes were yelling and screaming when we got off the

bus. The fans were wanting autographs and

pictures. As we were going into the place to play the

team stopped and looked at the fieldhouse before walking

into it. You could see the smoke come from their mouth as they got off the bus. When they got to the locker room they were hanging up their uniforms to make them little warm before they put them on. The team was getting warm and putting their uniforms on when one kid forgot his uniform on the bus so he and the assistant coach by the time the assistant coach and the kid got back in we getting ready to play our first game. We were playing a team from Ohio, they were good but we were better. We beat them by 5 points it was 55 to 50. Our next game wasn’t till 2:00 so we were watching other teams in our pool play to see what teams were better or could beat us. The next team we played was the best team we would face they were beating us 35 to 20 at halftime. The second half the team turned it around and caught back up with them. They called a timeout when it was 42 to 36. From that point on we came back to win 61 to 59. It was a close game, but the next team was even harder they were bigger and faster. They thought they could win easily but the team showed up to play and at half it was 26 to 23 they were just a little bit better than us. When the second half started the coach for their team must have got something into them because they were winning 40 to 28. After that point our team just gave up and we lost big time 72 to 58. That was the team first lost in the pool play. Our coach said these games don’t matter because they and just some warm up games. After that we finished second in our pool play and we got to see who we would be playing. We watched the other teams play before we did and we played a team that was alright but we killed them 62 to 45. Our team won its next four games and we were one game away from the championship. If we won we would go to the championship, if

The crowd started to count down 17, 16,

15, 14 and we were playing good defense when my

teammate stole the ball and made a layup to put the

game away. We won 74 to 72. We were in the

championship game hoping that we would not have to

play that team again. The team that we wanted to play

lost by thirty points. Everybody that came to watch was

sitting and ready for the game it took us a long time to get

here and we were not going to give up. The game was getting ready to start and I

was really nervous my teammates told me to calm down and play like we have been

all day. The team we were playing was from Kokomo and they were tried because

they had to play back to back. We came out on fire and we were winning 16 to 8

and they called their first timeout of the game. After that it went back and forth

when it was halftime the score was 33 to 30 they were winning because the referees

called it their way. Our coach talked to us for the whole halftime so we could not

even get out there to warm up for the second half. Jake one of my teammates

dribbled the ball up the court to start the second half and passed it to me wide

The Backfield Package by Thomas J. Dygard is a fiction sports story about a football team that has a chance to win the Rend Lake Conference championship in back to back seasons. The story mainly focuses on four players Joe Mitchell the quarterback, Tracy Jackson a wide receiver, Coley Brewster a running back, and Lew Preston the fullback and where these players will decide to go to college to play football at. The time that this story goes on is unknown, but I would assume that the time is sometime in the nineties or pretty close to there. The story takes place though in southern Illinois at a small high school named Hillcrest High.…

The Columbia Claim Jumpers trailed the West Hills Falcons 82-80 with under 30 second to play Wednesday night on the road in Coalinga. With the ball in the Jumpers hands, Columbia head coach Rob Hoyt had no desire to see the game go to overtime. “I’m going to go for the win and get the heck out of there,” Hoyt said. Columbia’s DeAndre Stallings drained a 3-pointer from six feet behind the arc to give the Jumpers an 83-82 lead with under 20 seconds left in the game. With a one point lead, Hoyt would not allow himself to celebrate until the final buzzer sounded.…

Pregame meals are an important part of most sports fans’ gameday routine. My routine involves eating a Chipotle burrito bowl in front of my television prior to Tampa Bay Lightning ice hockey games. I do this in good faith that my routine will lead the Bolts, as they are dubbed, to victory. Gameday Chipotle just seemed to fit because after all, hockey is a sport full of superstition and protein-crunching athletes. By 6:30 on Saturday evening, I was ready.…

An offensive rebound and put-back attempt by ETBU’s Junior Mitchell led the visiting Tigers to a 56-54 win over LeTourneau University on Saturday in Longview. The YellowJackets (9-13, 6-7 ASC) had forced a desperation 3-point attempt by Dylan Augustine with the shot clock winding down before an alert Mitchell came in from the perimeter for the game-winning, put-back attempt with seven seconds to go. LeTourneau called a timeout and looked to set up a play to send the contest overtime. However, the YellowJackets were unable to get off a shot. “Both teams defended at a high level and they made one more play then we did,” said LETU head coach Dan Miller.…

Coming into the finale of the ACC championship, the Cavaliers wanted to make history. The Carolina Tarheels and the Virginia Cavaliers were the best two teams in the conference, Carolina Tar Heels being the number one seed and Virginia Cavaliers being the second seed. The Cavaliers knew that Carolina had some of the best offense due to high-powered plays and energy on the court. The Cavaliers knew that they would be the underdog in this game because they were the second seed. That does not mean that the Cavaliers would not go down without a fight.…

So we prayed and the game started and we played nervously. My captain, Melissa dribbled down the court, looked to pass, and took the shot but missed it. Michelle also missed her fast-break lay up, and I missed my free throw. At the end of Quarter 2, it was like playing football because the scoreboard only shows 2 for Ipeka Tomang (my school) and 3 for Yadika. That indicates how much we are struggling the whole quarter never really score but a constant battle between getting and loosing the ball.…
