Bad Decisions In Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet

The first bad decision that Romeo made was going to the Capulets party. Romeo did say that he did not want to go to the party but before he saw Juliet he was in love with Rosaline. Rosaline was the real reason why Romeo decided to attend as he stated “I’ll go along, no such sight to be shown, But to rejoice in splendor of mine own”. This is Romeo's first major mistake of the play and he predicted it too “I have a feeling this party tonight will be the start of something bad, something that will end with my own death. But whoever’s in charge of where my life’s going can steer me wherever they want”. From going to this party there are multiple outcomes that occur which end up turning out to be negative. When Balthasar told Romeo that Juliet has “killed” herself Romeo said “Well, Juliet, I will lie with thee tonight.Let’s see for means. O mischief, thou art swift To enter in the thoughts of desperate men”. Romeo is filled with sorrow and is saying that he is going to kill himself to be with Juliet, and that destructed thoughts are common to desperate men. This decision also led to negative outcomes. The first outcome is that Juliet ends up actually killing herself. Romeo does not know about the plan that Friar Lawrence has made, and his emotions led him to come up with a plan very quickly. If he would have took his time and thought about his options, he either would have made a different choice or Friar Lawrence would have saved Juliet from the tomb before Romeo would arrive. Since Romeo rushed his plan he ended up killing himself as well as causing Juliet to kill herself. Another negative thing that came from Romeo's decision is Paris’ death. Paris sees Romeo at Juliet's Tomb and tells him that he is arrested. Romeo will have nothing to do with it and fights and kills Paris. Neither of these things would have happened if Romeo would have kept his emotions under control and make a proper
