A good parent(character)
What makes a(n adult) good parent a good parent? We’ll that’s totally controversial, but in my own personal view a good parent (for example( would be Harper lee’s To kill a Mockingbird's Atticus.

Why I see Atticus as an excellent character to admire as a parent figure is because Atticus is selfless, wise, and loyal.

Selfless Atticus is constantly putting other before him. Hes has never shown any worry for himself but for scout and Jem. Like when preparing for trial Atticus never bothered with what others deeming him as. But stayed focused on doing his job the right way no matter his client’s skin color.
“Atticus was leaving the post office when Mr. Ewell approached him, cursed him spat on him, and threatened to kill him.” All Atticus said was “ I

Atticus replied with “If I didn’t I couldn’t hold up my head in town, I couldn’t represent this country in the legislature, I couldn’t even tell you or Jem not to do something again” (Lee 75)
No matter if the majority agree with him or not Atticus is committed to doing what he knows is right.
To me these attributes make a good parent. He is constantly thinking about his kids, friends, and basically everyone around him. He puts their needs before his. He always has some answer for Jem and scout. He has not once said I don't know, or go look it up. Loyalty is something to look up to. It shows that he’s trustworthy, that scout and Jem can come to him for anything. These may not sound like “parent” characteristic but for Atticus, this make me want to look up to him, and that’s what kids should feel with there parent, that they are always there for them when they need them, that you can go to your mom or dad and be able to trust what they say. Parents should be our ideals. Atticus Is a good example of what in ideal parent should be. Hes selfless, wise, and loyal. Those are good attributes to look for in a

A good father is a man who can be constantly busy, but always makes time to be there for his kids. In the book To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Atticus who is the father and sole parent of Scout and Jem, displays qualities of an ideal father. Atticus expects his children to stand up for what they believe in, and he does the same himself. He does not feel that he can tell them one thing and do another. Finally, Atticus is always guiding Jem and Scout with advice so that they will become more compassionate people. Atticus sets a good example for the children when Mr. Ewell confronts him. Even though he is provoked and insulted, Atticus simply has a “peaceful reaction”.…

He does not put himself above others or brag about himself and he strives to remain humble despite the many attempts people try at breaking him of his strong character. In chapter ten there is a dramatic scene where a dog known as Tim Johnson, “the property of Mr. Harry Johnson who drove the mobile bus” (Lee, 122) caught Jem’s eye and seemed a bit off. Jem and Scout went home and reported to California who then called Heck Tate, the town sheriff, and Atticus to take care of it. The dog was most likely sick with rabies and could possibly harm someone. Atticus and Heck arrived and Mr. Tate had a rifle in his arms.…

The impacts shown throughout movies, books, and history amplify society’s effects on a person’s moral value and beliefs and are created based on set standards. Although many people fall under societal pressures and neglect to stand up for what is right, there are some who try to change society for the good, even if they are standing alone. In To Kill a Mockingbird, Atticus Finch is presented as a moral compass for Maycomb citizens and he bravely works against stereotypes and injustices while facing insults and being publicly shamed. First off I will be characterizing Atticus Finch, Scout and Jem’s father. I believe that Atticus has two main traits. The initial one, I say, is how Atticus is very devoted. He is devoted to his occupation, his beliefs, and the overall well being of his children. In the novel Atticus says “I certainly am.…

"Shoot all the bluejays you want, if you can hit'em, but remember it's a sin to kill a mockingbird," My father said these words to me and my brother, Jeremy, when we got our first guns. My name is Jean-Louise Finch some people call me Scout. Atticus was the kind of person who always said what he thought. We're all here today to remember Atticus, how he was kind and honest to everyone he talked too, his feelings about people being equal and against racism, and how he taught me and Jem to 'walk a mile in someone else's skin, before you judge them,' Atticus was the best role model that anyone could ask for and I don't think anyone would change it for anything. When I was in my 3rd year of school Jem destroyed Ms. Dubose's flowers, and Atticus…

The reader see this several times throughout the book, Atticus is a man who doesn't falter, His beliefs are firm and unmoving. I believe Mark Twain said it best, “We stand up for what we believe in. No matter the odds or consequences. When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move. Your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth and tell the whole world: ‘No, you…

For example Atticus, he’s a great father, a fantastic lawyer, and for when this book was written he wasn’t judgemental. A quote that shows this is when Atticus more or less says to Jem there’s a lot of ugliness in this world and I wish I could protect you from it but that’s impossible. This is showing that Atticus wants to shelter his son from the bad parts of the world but he knows that’s impossible. For further evidence we look at Scout throughout the book, Scout in the beginning of the book only being six she is understandably quite childish, but towards the end of the book she becomes more of an adult with help for Atticus and everything that happens throughout the two years this book spans.…

Can you imagine trying to defend a black man in the South during the 1930’s when racism was still extremely prevalent? Well that is exactly what Atticus Finch did in To Kill A Mockingbird. Tom Robinson was a black man accused of rape. Atticus, being a lawyer, took on the role of defending him. It was known that Tom had a mangled left arm and had no purpose in doing the accused crime, but in the end racism won, over and the court 's decision was guilty purely based on skin color.…
