Athletic directors have the ability to shape, mold, and pour into many lives due to their impact on others. The leadership style(s) of an athletic director must be able to help cultivate an environment that adheres to the school’s mission statement as well as the mission statement of the athletic program(s). As Allen, Grigsby, & Peters (2015) state, “school leader is considered one of the most influential factors in the development of the quality and character of a school”. Much of the research today places an emphasis on the leadership style of the administrator of the school and how the school will, eventually, mirror that particular leadership style.
