“ No completely effective treatment exists for Asperger Syndrome” ( Magill’s Medical Guide 190). A common treatment for Asperger Syndrome is “psychotherapy to enhance communications and reduce problem behaviors” (Magill’s Medical Guide 191). According to Magills Medical Guide Volume 1 page 192 “ In the mid 1960’s Ivar Lovaas and colleagues developed treatment for Asperger Syndrome that involved the basic behavioral procedures of shaping and discrimination training”. Most of the treatments for Asperger Syndrome mostly focus on strengthening communication skills and reproducing behavior ( Magill’s Medical Guide 191). “ Little research support exists for the benefits from vitamins or dietary changes and medicine typically focused on specific behaviors or symptoms” (brainbalancecenters.). “According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, the ideal treatment for Asperger’s coordinates therapies that address the three core symptoms of the disorder: poor communication skills, obsessive or repetitive routines, and physical clumsiness” ( psychcentral). There is not one treatment that works on everyone with this disease (psychcentral). “An effective treatment program build on the child’s interest and offers a predictable schedule, teaches tasks as a series of simple steps, actively engages the child’s attention in highly structured activities, and provides regular reinforcement of behavior”
