Hollywood places the image of Kung-fu and Martial Arts as the bases of Asian culture. These false depictions of Asian cultures creates less opportunities for Asian actors to act in Hollywood. Most of these Asian actors come from countries in Asia. Yoo Grace Chen reports that most Asians actors from Hollywood come from Asia. Yoo Grace Chen reports “ The best-known Asian actors in Hollywood all came to the United States following phenomenal success in Asia and nearly all are limited to martial arts/action hero roles. Of these, the most well-known are Jackie Chan, Chow Yun-Fat, and Jet Li” (Yoo 642). The imported actors do not allow many Asian American actors the opportunity to act in Hollywood because Hollywood only search for Asian actors with Martial Art backgrounds, such as, Jackie Chan, Chow Yun-Fat, and Jet Li. These searches for Asian martial artist leads to numerous movies focusing on martial arts, such as, Shanghai Noon, Rush Hour Series, The Tuxedo, Shanghai Knights, The Medallion, and Around the World in 80 Days. However, the searches for Asian actors with martial arts background fall short because most Asian martial art movies use the same
