Being that the piece itself is split up into two separate halves, each half has its own colors that bring symbolism to what it stands for. One half is dark green with a dark colored sky over it. The darkness gives a feeling of uneasiness and fear, symbolizing the idea that the land is free and has not been taken over by man. Kahn Academy says, “It is wild, unruly, and tamed” (Kahn Academy). The dark clouds over head seem to be one of the focal points due to the differentiation in color from the greens that cover the painting. On the other half, there is lighter tints of green, as well as light blues and whites that encompass the sky and clouds.
