Argumentative Essay: The Benefits Of Community College

Students often go to community college because it is cheaper than a university and it is a more convenient way to further their education. Many students who attend a community college often do not go on to a four year university. These students often drop before completing, or settle for a certificate of some kind. California wants to raise the amount of transfer students from community colleges to four year colleges and universities by creating more programs and classes for students to achieve their AA and AS degrees and transfer out to get their BA and BS. The community college system should not be devoting its time and resources to transfer courses and programs. One reason that the community college system should not devote its time and resources to transfer courses and programs is because people who go to college come from all stages of life. Community college serves people from the age of 16 to the age of 80. Do to the convenience that community college offers, many older people go to further their own personal intelligence and not to gain a degree. Although some would argue that this is done at higher levels of education, that is not always true. If there was someone who was working in business without a higher education, they would need to learn some fundamental information on how a business works. This is achieved through trainings through the business, or by taking some classes at a community college. These students have already found for themselves a job, and would most likely not want to spend time going to a four year college and aim for their BS or BA. These students would benefit from other programs that would not focus on transferring and receiving a college
