There are many stories about pit bulls attacking people. Here is one from a certified dog trainer, he explains his experience with dogs. I am a retired dog trainer. I spent 26 years working with hundreds of dogs including more than 12 years spent managing a 300+ dog sled dog kennel that for 3 years housed 75 pit bulls that I handled every day, exercised, fed, and cared for them. He was walking his dog one day when a pit bull ran out the yard and started attacking his dog. He knew what to do to stop a dog fight, but tried three times to get the pitbull off his dog. Every time he tried, the dog would then start attacking him. The owner eventually steeped in and was able to get his dog back inside. He said, In my professional opinion, no other kind of dog is less predictable, less reliable, or more dangerous than these dogs are. Their owners’ irrational blind love for them just adds to the danger. Pit bulls are super smart and need a lot of attention, someone that can work with them, and who has the knowledge of how to train them. Most owners do not take the time to go through extensive training classes and work with them every day. That is what is important. The owners should at least have the correct training, right? Actually the amount of owners that have had training are more likely to be more controlling of their dogs and expect more of them. As I have said, is this a bad thing. Well if you feel that a very controlled and stable dog is important to have for the safety reasons, then it is highly encouraged. In the previous paragraph it suggests that no matter how trained your pit bull is, it will never be completely safe. For this reason many people think that pit bulls should be banned. They have already been removed from the UK, Although many people say that no dog is safe, pit bulls are just to swaying to their natural

While recently looking up Canadian laws, Animal Rights popped up and seemed very intriguing. From thereon, the Dog Owners Liability Act surfaced and it states “The owner of a dog is liable for damages resulting from a bite or attack by the dog on another person or domestic animal.” This law does make sense that the owner should take the responsibility of their dog because they were the ones who raised the dog to be the way it is but the one sub issue found with this law is the Pit Bull Ban. The total ban on the Pit Bull breed in Ontario is unacceptable because the government shouldn’t be targeting just the one breed because of the actions of several individual dogs, Pit Bulls shouldn’t be treated differently from other breeds, and if the government is already banning a whole breed, what is going to stop them from banning a bunch of other breeds that have the same attack numbers. Throughout this essay, it will be proven that the total ban of Pit Bulls is ridiculous and the law should be revoked.…

The answer leads to media. The media is the cause of the fear about Pit Bulls. They created the impression that these dogs are harmful and makes the public believe that they’re the only dogs that attack. It states in Source #4, “Despite the fact that other breeds of dogs can and do attack people, these incidents go unmentioned, even at the local level. The media intentionally over-reports incidents involving Pit Bulls, while keeping silent on attacks committed by dogs with better reputation, such as labradors.”…

In 1987 in California, a pit bull guarding a marijuana crop mauled and killed a two year old boy. Because of this many people started ranting about how you should beware of pit bulls, and that’s where I see it wrong. It wasn’t the pit bulls fault that his owner was a bad person being a drug dealer and all. Del Crooke states “The Dangerous Dogs Act out laws breeds which are considered aggressive, like pit bull terriers.” The pit bull was trained to bite whoever, and it should be the owner who gets in trouble for being a horrible owner and putting peoples life at risk by raising the dog to be that way.…

A lot of people don 't understand the needs of certain breeds. If a dog needs to be walked daily, receive lots of attention, or needs to intake the appropriate amount of food everyday, and does not get that,it’s going to change their personality. There are many people that believe the myths that are out in the world about Pit Bulls but will never actually do any research to dig deeper to learn about them. If these dogs were so vicious we wouldn’t be using them as service dogs or even as police dogs. People are a reason Pit Bulls are seen as vicious people teach them to be like that, We also have people that own apartment complexes or even people that own deed restricting housing think Pitbulls are very bad and we can’t even get insurance on our dogs if we have Pitbulls so if something were to happen and a Pitbull bit another dog they would have to pay money out of there pocket if there was any injuries and in the end they would have to put that Pitbull down because of that. I hope this essay can change at least change the way people view Pitbulls and for them to actually dig deeper and do some research about these dogs.…

“86.8 percent of American Pit Bull Terriers have passed their temperament tests” (O’Connor). If this is legitimate, then why are so many people afraid of these affectionate animals? There have been, in some cities, bans put on pit bulls because of a high amount of reports of pit bulls biting people. This reason is not the dogs’ faults. Think about it; who trains these dogs and why are people being bitten?…

Pit Bulls Should Not Be Banned Pit bulls are often called violent dogs. They are stigmatized as the breed often known as fighting dogs. These dogs are singled out to be restrained or banned and are put to death just for their breed. In Lafayette, Louisiana, two men were arrested for dog fighting and fifty-seven pit bulls were confiscated. Some of the confiscated dogs had scars from fighting, and just because of the breed’s reputation, all of the dogs were considered dangerous.…
