“It all happened so fast. The ghetto. The deportation. The sealed cattle car. The fiery altar upon which the history of our people and the future of our mankind were meant to be sacrificed.” Many things occurred during the Holocaust, there was concentration camps, people who were treated brutally and were kept away like prisoners. Including elderly, children, adults, and people who were physically and mentally ill. Unfortunately, the Germans had no mercy on the Jewish race, and believed that they were not going to benefit Germany since they were believed to be less than they are. Mostly all of the kids were petite and fragile, and the work they were put to do was a difficult job that a kid that age would not be able to do. Not only because they were not able to do the job they were killed, also because they were seen as a “dangerous” group of kids. The only option that they had was considerable ways to kill them, Germans killed about 1.5 million of children, about 1 million Jews, and thousands of Romani Gypsy, they also murdered their own race of kids that has disabilities, including polish children, children that resided in the occupied Soviet Union were also murdered. “Some Jewish and some non-Jewish adolescents (13-18 years old) had a greater chance of survival, as they could be used for forced labor.” The adolescents had a better chance of survival because they were serviceable and they used them to do forced labor. Children that did survive were usually hidden from their family members because children did not actually get a chance at living, they were automatically a target to kill when they arrived at the camps.
