Humans die because of their own choices. No one knows what those choices are, but when those choices are caused by the influence of another human; society starts to question humanity. How can one person affect others? How can one perish from it? How can people go escape with impunity from it? In the play Romeo and Juliet, two heartfelt lovers, from disputing families, took their lives because they were influenced by a religious figure, Friar Lawrence. It is clear, due to misguided decisions by Friar Lawrence caused Romeo and Juliet to end in a tragic way. Friar Lawrence's involvement in Romeo and Juliet’s marriage without the consent of their parents caused this tragedy. Being an adult, Friar Lawrence should have asked the parents about their marriage. If their parents got to know the truth about their children; they might have been able to help them control their emotions, and guide them in the right path Evidence of this can be found when Friar Lawrence says “For, by your leaves, you shall not stay alone. They decide to get married. Juliet decides to fake her own death. Romeo decides to kill himself because he thought Juliet was dead. Evidence can be found when Romeo says “Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die,” (Shakespeare Act 5 Scene 3). The evidence shows us that it was Romeo’s own decision to take poison and kill himself. Their own decisions are to blame for their deaths, and not the guidance of Friar Lawrence. On the other hand, this argument is not valid because all of Romeo and Juliet’s choices were caused by the reckless plans created by Friar Lawrence. Friar Lawrence got them married without their parents permissions, he gave Juliet the plan to fake her own death, he didn’t tell Romeo about the plan beforehand, thus causing Romeo to die. Romeo and Juliet’s decisions have no effect on their
