One small act of plagiarism can have a domino effect in real life. It is all about integrity or the lack thereof. Most people in life take pride in their effort to produce the best piece of work possible. They have earned the acknowledgement and praises they receive for their creativity. It is unfair to steal the hard work of any individual. I use the word steal because that is what it is. Stealing is a crime. Plagiarism = Stealing. Who would know, is what thieves tell themselves when in the process of committing their crimes. They are right, who would know? The person stealing would know. If they got caught, the author of the plagiarized work would know. The police would know and so on. Companies, their families, the public all would know what these lying cheating individuals did. Actions have consequences. Thieves can face all kinds of consequences. Here are some examples to name a few: they can get fired, receive jail time, or even expelled from school. You do not have to cheat or steal to get the good grade or that promotion. You only need to put in the effort and have the confidence that you can do the work all on your own. It just takes a little hard work and pride in a job well done. Integrity, pride, blood, sweat and tears makes all the personal accomplishments all worth the honest effort. I think by giving credit where credit is due makes a person a better humanitarian. In this day and age, the concept of free thinking and creativity to bring about new ideas is lost on this current generation. Before you think about copy and pasting information from the internet or slap your name on someone else’s project think about the effect you will cause. Instead give acknowledgement to the worker behind that document or project and in turn you will be acknowledged with having such a high standard of moral.
