Children today don’t have as much enthusiasm to go outside and play as kids from a generation ago. They would rather stay inside and either watch T.V. or play on their electronic devices rather than going outside to play games with friends or ride bikes. Many people agree that today’s kids are more prone to disease and illnesses, which were not around several years ago. The number one cause of obesity is food. Inactivity is also to blame for people being overweight. Food plays an important role when it comes to obesity. There may be other reasons, like health conditions, that make people obese which I will get to later on. Sure if all Americans ate healthier foods like low carb, fat-free and high fiber foods; and avoided foods like double cheeseburgers, loaded BB-Q baked potatoes and chicken nuggets with large fries then we would most likely be thinner, like people from Asian and Mediterranean countries. Since fast food and new restaurants are opening up all over the place, it makes it hard on Americans to not be tempted to try new foods. Most people are so busy nowadays that they don’t have time to cook. Some people barely have enough time to fix their ramen noodles. People are constantly multi-tasking just to be able to fit in all they have to do in a day, that they miss their meals and then get home at night and are starving and eat all they can find. People have full time jobs and work long hours and hardly have time to stop so they would rather just find the nearest fast-food location and spend only five minutes getting a meal, when it would take about an hour or more to make a home-made meal. (I would know; this is why I am the way I am right now). The majority of Americans have no will power when it comes to food. We are constantly being tempted with food on TV, billboards and all types of media. Who can resist an ooey gooey cinnamon roll fresh from the oven, or a plate filled with fries and a giant burger, or buffalo wings, I mean come on now, in order to say “NO” you have to give up a lot and have a lot of will power to turn mouthwatering, “unhealthy” foods away, which is a problem most Americans face every
