Marijuana legalization is a controversial topic that is at the center of a serious debate. If legalized in California, California will become one of five states to legalize marijuana for recreational use in addition to Colorado, Oregon, Alaska and Washington for adults 21 and older. The war on drugs started back in 1986 under the Reagan administration that implied a mandatory sentence for repeat offenders under the “three strike” act leading to life sentences. We must be very careful when taxing as there is a three part tax weight, price, and potency with a too high of a tax may cause user to result in the black market which defeats the purpose of legalizing. Unlike other taxes the funding will not go to the general funding but rather to programs that educates about legalized marijuana, treatment, regulation enforcement, prevention and research. The Marijuana industry will also create many different jobs from agriculture, edible creators, concentrates processor, administrative staff and much more.
While under the influence of Marijuana can be very dangerous while driving as it affects your reflex and motor skills can increase the chances of a car accident. As a starting point we can educate California drivers about the effect this drug has on their boy as our goal is to minimize drugged driving. The data being collected will be published in a detailed report stating how a policy or program outcomes compare to the
