Children who are in the adoption process have, typically, already been through many difficulties in their previous homes. Many of them have been through both physical and mental abuse, divorce, family death, and many other varying causal situations. Not only are they carrying the memory of these different situations with them, but now they are having to relocate to a new home where they are entirely unfamiliar. Many of these children want to leave their past behind and move forward to begin to live with a family who cares for them and will show them with utmost comfort. However, this may not be the case when moving into a homosexual home. The children will be even more emotionally disoriented when seeing two mom or two dads. Mr. Harrington killed himself after being in a city council meeting which greatly disagreed with homosexuality. The article highlighted the statement by the city council that “as they saw it, [even] the very creator of the universe stood against homosexuality so strongly” (Reitan). This is a common belief of the Christian faith, and though more and more church associations continue to have discussions regarding the possibility of permitting same-sex marriage, there has not been an amendment to the global Christian belief that the practice of homosexuality is indeed sinful. Not only is the majority of the people in the nation Christian and share the belief that that homosexuality is a sin, but some of the children in adoption centers are also Christians. How would they react when being brought into a home in which they view the sexual orientation of their adopted parents to be sinful? Many children were raised conservatively which has subsequently led them to have certain beliefs and a
