Hamlet- Even without Shakespeare providing an elaborate description of Hamlet's features, we can envision his pale face, wind-swept hair, intense, brooding eyes, dressed in black. I envisioned him as a scrawny yet weighted man whose hair is pitch black. On the contrary Danes have blonde hair (majority). The royal attire for a Danish Prince is to have a royal hat, laced shirt and pantaloons. He loves his father because he carries out the plan and loves his mother because he deters her from committing more sins.
Laertes- loves his parents as well, but unleashes his anger on physical encounters and aggressiveness, which he shows when he duels Hamlet because of the death of Polonius.
Steadfastness:
Hamlet- is dedicated and steadfast to his goal. He is less blunt and beads around the bush many times to throw off people. He is usually acting insane but mentally he is sharp.
Laertes- is also dedicated and steadfast, but is more blunt and “out-there”. He goes straight to the point and is persuaded easily by people like Claudius and the pressure of the crowd.
Loyalty and Friendship:
Hamlet- has one trustworthy/loyal friend, Horatio. His other friends like Rosencrantz and Guildenstern follow the king but betray Hamlet.
Laertes- The play doesn’t make it aware to the audience of his intimate friends, but his loyalty is questioned. He was Hamlets friend and now betrays him! He created a bond with Claudius while plotting against Hamlet.
