aversion to love. Eros then watched as Apollo and Daphne took effect from the arrows.
Furthermore, Apollo’s intense love for Daphne caused him to become confused.

persistently pursued Daphne. Moreover, Daphne did not give in to Apollo’s immense love no
matter his persistence to be with her. Nevertheless, this is because of her vow to stay a virgin
like Apollo’s twin sister Artemis. On the other hand, Apollo would not give up on his love for
Daphne and had continued to chase her. Peneus, a river-god, and Daphne’s father, answered
Daphne’s plea to not let her be married. Quickly Peneus turned his beloved daughter into a
beautiful laurel tree in front of Apollo. Reacting to the situation, Apollo had felt heart-broken and
could not believe what he had witnessed. “Since you cannot be my wife, you should assuredly
be my tree,” said the heart-broken Apollo. The Greek god then embraced the branches and
decorated his crown and lyre with the leaves.
Unfortunately the beautiful nymph Daphne had been made victim by the mischievous
Eros. Virtues Daphne had bowed her head in a grateful acknowledgment to Apollo. Wherefor
Daphne becoming the laurel tree had resulted in her becoming one of the greatest symbols to
