Apollo 11: My Love Of Science

Decent Essays
I chose my topic, Apollo 11, because of my love of science. Space has always been one of my favorite topics and I wanted to research Apollo 11 because it was the first moon landing. I started my research on my school data bases. I was able to find most of my primary resources on the databases but also found good secondary resources as well. Writers use different methods to catch a reader 's attention, some can be caught by persuading the reader or audience using reasoning as well as facts towards the argument either positive or negative. Apollo 13 was the seventh manned mission in the American Apollo space program and the third intended to land on the Moon. The craft was launched on April 11, 1970, at 13:13 CST from the Kennedy Space Center, Florida, but the lunar landing was aborted after an oxygen tank exploded two days later, crippling the Service Module(SM) upon which the Command Module (CM) depended. Despite great hardship caused by limited power, loss of cabin heat, shortage of potable water, and the critical need to jury-rig the carbon dioxide removal system, the crew returned safely to Earth on April 17. The flight passed over the far side of the Moon at an altitude of 254 kilometers (137 nautical miles) from the lunar surface, 400,171 km (248,655 mi) from Earth, a…

However, in the late 1900s, NASA began an operation trying to land men on the moon before the Soviets did using the rocket.…

Neil Armstrong and the rest of the Apollo 11 crew took countless rock samples and photographed as much of the moon’s surface as possible (Haggerty 143). NASA also learned how some of the elements from high in the atmosphere and farther into space affected the machinery that was exposed. Thus, NASA built a facility that allowed for the testing of some of the destructive forces that take a toll on equipment that is used in outer space. One of the major inventions that came with the Space Race was green resources and renewable energy. NASA had to use solar panels to power the spacecraft, now thousands of businesses and homes use solar panels as a way to power computers and televisions.…

Typically, when people think of doing research they automatically go to Google to search their topic and gather the information needed. One issue that this causes is that this specific search engine finds thousands of results that may not even be relevant to what one is searching for. This causes long hours of frustration and it takes researching a lot longer than it has to be. I was once a Google addict when it came to school assignments, but thanks to a few professors I now know that other sources are available that makes research a breeze. There are three different types of sources that I will focus on; popular sources, trade sources, and scholarly sources.…
