Human expression led to ancient China’s creation and growth. Over time the Chinese people developed a writing style similar to Egypt’s: pictures and symbols, and later adapting the Roman alphabet. They used their form of writing in three ways. One, it was a way to keep records. This is significant to the Chinese people because when people know the past it helps not to make the same mistakes. Two, scribes, people who wrote everything, this led to them having education for young men; when you start educating a group of people it leads to expansions in the economy, job market, and communication. Third, communication, China was spread over a great amount of land which was all under control by the same person with advisors controlling the city-states. Since China covered a lot of land there were many different natural resources that the people used. Rivers were the main reason that the chinese settled down in the communities. Fertile land was brought by the rivers, and this made people in China settle down because it provided a steady source of food. When a civilization has an abundant food source more people can be allowed and still get food that they need for survival, so this made the Chinese population grow. Others than rivers, there were mountains, deserts, and other waterways. Mountains and deserts provided the people some protection: in order to invade they would need to climb mountains and cross deserts. Waterways made trade and communication easier keeping the emperor informed of his civilization and kept the people with items the needed and wanted. Settled communities helps create ancient China in a very distinct way; without settled communities they wouldn’t have a way to settle down and sustain a population let alone let it grow. Egypt grew and was created with the aid of religion. Religion acts as a cultural backbone for any civilization that has a type of religion. The Egyptians were polytheistic, believed in two or more gods; with these there were two main types of gods: the sun and land. The sun gods were thought to be the source of all life and the land gods powered resurrection. The Egyptians feared their gods, and the powers they had to keep the worldly order. To keep their gods appeased they were worshipped and spoken to through prayer. You saw the religion in everyday life keeping their social class in order, this gave them a sense of security. Religion contributed to the growth of the civilization in a very unique way. It gave the people an example to act by, keeping their government in order and not collapsing. Also it kept the hierarchy of the classes in check, keeping conflict at bay for as lot as it could.
