The interactions students have with people from other cultures and situations increases knowledge and encourages the student to consider more after interactive with a varied group of individuals. The differences in perspectives seen on college campuses allows the student to move past himself to gain a full view of where he stands in the world and how he fits into it.

This lack of communication, and the lack of hiring that goes with it, has led to problems for both employers and their prospective employees. Internships help students to feel more prepared to go to work in their field of choice, even more so if the internship comes with a salary. There is still some disconnect between how a graduate feels and the reality seen by his potential boss. Students could likely better prepare themselves if they would start working on communicating with others early on in their college career.

College graduates are finding that the feelings they hold about their own preparedness are not in line with the views employers have about the same readiness. These students are found to be lacking in areas of organization and should likely begin preparing for the workforce earlier in their college career. Traditional classroom activities and discussion are less than the ideal environment required to develop and independent idea and create a pitch that will turn that idea into cushion for the bottom line. Corporate America is driven by profits and the communication skills learned by students in the classroom simply cannot pass muster. Another problem that employers find in their applicants is the absence of problem solving, or critical thinking, skills. This leads the perspective employee to lack the skill required to overcome the problem at hand and create a fitting solution on the fly. This is particularly problematic since, in business, time is money. If the employee is unable to overcome the little problems that crop up, they cannot move beyond the problem and complete the
