There is also a 90% chance that the same makeup / skin care products failed the first test because of the harsh chemicals. Only 92% of the animals safety test are accurate according to www.understandinganimalresearch.org. Usually the product will pass the test on animals, then fail during the clinical trials. Animal testing is in no way useful anymore, so why do we think our product is unsafe because it wasn 't tested on an innocent animal. Lab animal enthusiasts are for the most part, not in favor of hurting animals intentionally but they think that there are major human health benefits but the truth is less than 2% of human illnesses (1.16%) are ever seen in animals. In essence, animal testing is wasted time and wasted lives. If this logic isn 't enough to persuade animal testing enthusiasts then think of it this way, most of the time theses animals are born to be brought up in a lab, and intentionally being abused because “ they have nothing else to live for” then why don 't we test cosmetics on humans that have nothing else to live for such as people sentenced to life in prison for example. In our minds that seems totally unethical but it 's exactly what we are doing to puppies, mice, cats, monkeys and others. This whole situation reminds me of the book “Unwind” by Neal Shustermen. But sometimes in the book, people have children for the sole purpose of them being used for their unwound limbs, just as animals are sometimes bred to be tested on- then eventually put to death just as the “ unwounds”
