But, we are still testing drugs on humans to determine the drug’s effectiveness as well as the side effects that are associated with the drug. From the moral point of view experimenting on animals to develop products and medicines that benefit humans should not be allowed and there should be laws implemented. the testing of animals are not only a major ethical concern, but an incredibly dangerous hazard to the world. The ethical part of these tests is enough to stop all animal testing. It has even been admitted by scientists that animal testing has caused a delay in developments of cures for many diseases. Groups have been developed to help spread the truth of animal testing such as the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) and the Animal Rights International (ARI). PETA as well as ARI are groups helping to uncover what really happens in these labs. By knowing the experimenting of animals, do not really help in medical advancement, and the risk it is posing on our society, Scientists say that animal experiments are not to show the safety or effectiveness of the drugs on human beings, but they help us to decide whether a particular drug should be tested on …show more content…
The requirement of animal testing is justified by them on the plea that the after animal testing, the drug can then be tested on a small human group before going into the large scale clinical trials. It is not worth the abuse of millions of animals per year considering the result of that inhuman act. We are not only mistreating the animals but that we are truly hurting ourselves. The setbacks to our medical advancement, unreliability of the animal experiments as well as the cruelty performed on defenseless animals are all reasons enough to put an end to animal testing. When looking at every aspect of animal testing it is obvious more negative consequences are created as compared to the amount of good being done. It would not be good to continue with an unethical and defective method of testing and put our community at

However, prior to the article I did not contemplate or think about the issue or even its effectiveness. One thing in which I was surprised by was some of the statistics that was mentioned throughout the article. For example, I was unaware that out of all the drugs that pass animal tests, about 94 percent will fail clinical trials for humans. Majority of drugs that pass animal tests are often discarded immediately due to being deemed useless or harmful to humans, which is one of the reasons why activists contemplates that animal testing is useless (Stachura, 2008).…

Every year, more than 100 million animals are being tested with products to help cure an illness, or are helping to better the life of humans. If these products work, then it is a success, but if they do not work it hurts the animal’s and it puts them in danger. Many may say it is a good thing because the products are being tested before handing them to a human. Animal testing is that it is wrong and dangerous and especially for the safety of medications for human consumption.…

Bailey, Matthew R. “It's Time to End Ineffective And Cruel Animal Testing.” Wall Street Journal, 09 Oct 2017, PP. 16A. Matthew R. Bailey, in his newspaper article “It's Time to End Ineffective And Cruel Animal Testing” (2017), the author argues that testing drugs on animals is ineffective and claims animal lovers favor research that saves animals lives instead of killing them. In order for Bailey to get his point across, he states “Testing drugs on animals is notoriously ineffective. Not only do laboratory animals suffer from confinement and research procedures, but because they present different biologies and physiologies, different species (and even breeds within a species) respond differently to various substances.…

One of the big controversy of animal testing is that it is believed to be cruel and inhumane. It is widely known that there have been experiments with animal subjects where animals have been harmed and mistreated to the point of death, and highlighted the need for some sort of protection of animals, which came in the form of the federal Animal Welfare Act (AWA), but 95% of the animals that are being tested are not protected under the AWA, such as, birds, mice ,and rats who are bred for research, according to http://animal-testing.procon.org/. Another big point of controversy is that there have been cases where they do not show a side-effect that could be seen in a human consumer or they do not actually work on humans, when it is thought to have found a cure. For example, the drugs thalidomide and Vioxx, with the latter causing 27,000 cases of heart attacks and cardiac arrests. Lastly, the cost of using animals in research is higher than using other alternatives, such as the Animal Humane Societies in vitro, which costs around $11,000 to conduct compared to the $32,000 is would cost to do an animal study. Overall the use of animals for research is harmful to the animals who don 't have aren 't protected as best as they can be and is more expensive than using alternative methods to conduct…

When testing on humans is mentioned, negative thoughts come to one 's mind when in fact the way that humans would be tested on just have not been thoroughly explained. An important relevant fact to the situation is most animals don’t react the same as humans do to a lot of drugs and chemicals being tested. A lot of people have been led to believe that the DNA in people and the DNA in the animals being tested are the same. Yes the DNA is similar, but slight differences can cause completely diverse results and reactions to the test at…

Centuries have come and gone since the first form of animal testing was performed by the likes of Aristotle and Eristaratus (Hajar). This was back in the days where there was no technology to test medicines or different types of substances, therefore it is reasonable why the tested on animals. To this day multimillionaire companies keep testing on defenseless animals. Humanity has been able to come far in so many aspects of life, but when it comes to testing new products or drugs we are at a horrifying standstill. Technology is the key to open an infinite amount of opportunities to create better and more accurate systems of researching and testing.…

“Currently, nine out of ten experimental drugs fail in clinical studies because we cannot accurately predict how they will behave in people based on laboratory and animal studies”(FDA 2006). ➡ Even though the results may be misleading in specific animal tests, there isn’t much of a better alternative. Tests on certain humans may prove successful, however, those same tests may not prove successful in other humans. For instance, a medicine that helps one person may cause an allergic reaction in someone else. “Consider that of all the drugs which pass Phase 1 clinical trials in humans, 86% will fail in later stage human trials”(Lovell-Badge 2017).…

After studying multiple views on animal testing I have come to realize my personal view has now changed since the start of my research. Before undergoing heavy study into animal testing I believed that all types of animal testing should be stopped, but now I believe that the idea is very beneficial and should only be done when the rights of the animal are considered. In the coming years, hopefully, more regulations can be passed to ensure that all animal’s lives are protected during experimentation. Although most animals are treated with care and no pain is dealt to them when undergoing testing, it would be a lie if I stated no animals are harmed during the process. Animal testing is extremely useful in developing life-saving drugs and medicine.…

Animal testing has been a part of our society since the early 1900s. And it appears to me, that not until around 40 years ago or so, people began to realize that testing animals was inhumane on many different levels. But because we are the human beings that we are, we still try to shy away from a lot of the negative consequences of animal testing. It is easier for us to push aside that which is bad and try only to look at the positive aspects. Yet, in my opinion, the cons outweigh the pros.…

(Koshland, D.E) This is a huge advantage while testing medicine because the effects that arise on animals would most likely appear in humans. Different types of medicines have been created and successfully distributed among people to help them cure or stabilize a disease. That would not be possible without the use of animal testing. Yet, there is a heated debate on whether animal testing should be banned or not.…
