What is animal cruelty? Animal cruelty is the intentional and unintentional infliction of harm and/or suffering on an animal, regardless of any of the laws against it. These inflictions include, neglect, hoarding, shooting, fighting, beating, mutilation, throwing, stabbing, burning, and vehicular (How to Stop). According to the article “Animal Cruelty Facts and Stats”, those who intentionally abuse animals are mostly men under 30, while those involved in animal hoarding are more likely to be women over 60 years old. One way this situation can be prevented is if people know the signs. Some common signs are no shelter, a too tight collar, lack of grooming, mange, and starvation (Animal Abuse). Also, felony penalties have been added to anti-cruelty laws that are currently being used in states across the country.
