Many authors of the articles in which support children and go against the rightful sentencing are speaking from their own opinionated mindset and allowing emotion to overwhelm their logical decision making ability. However, I must beg to differ with many of the articles who seem to forget the type of crimes that are committed when these children are sentenced to life in prison or death. We must not forget that anyone who commits a crime of such erratic behaviour, shall be considered a subordinate of our society regardless of age. For example, if I were against the sentencing of children to life in imprisonment; and a close friend or loved one was killed or raped by a child, my opinion would most likely change due to emotional grief. Now many may state “you're allowing emotion to part-take in your decision making.” However, the transition from making illogical decisions based on emotion, such as allowing a child who has committed murder, homicide, or rape to be set free into a society in which it is highly looked down upon compared to making an emotional decision that betters everyone and not just an individual is completely and utterly different. In a society where things are so based upon actions and first impressions it is so hard to believe people would stoop so low as to say that anyone except children should be sentenced to life if they commit crimes so heinous. It's crazy to think people nowadays are so judgemental yet when someone asks them to use correct judgement in such situations they cannot make them. Our society must see that mistakes have been made in the past when it comes to allowing emotion affect our judicial judgement.
