The colleges are making tons of money off the real stars which is the athletes. “Yet the money being made off this event is not trickling down to the players, who are the stars of the tournament”(Patterson). So the reason the colleges do as well as they do is because of the star athletes the colleges recruit. Because of the colleges are making money from players faces and names some players are suing their colleges. ‘’A group of former players has filed an antitrust lawsuit alleging that student athletes are entitled to some of the money the NCAA makes off of using their names and likenesses on merchandise such as jerseys and video games’’(www.usnews.com). Players know that what the colleges are doing is wrong and they should get a portion of the profits. Some people believe though that if you decide to pay players some players would get more pay than other players at the school by how many items people buy or how popular they are. ‘’If the players are paid based on the amount of revenue that they bring in, some players may not receive nearly as much compensation as others. This is an unfair way to treat these college students. Female athletes will also be paid significantly less than their male counterparts’’(www.apecsec.org). The risks are very real every practice and game for these players one wrong step and their main reason they went to college is no longer a possibility. The athletes work super hard just like other Americans and they still don't get paid. ‘’At the end of the day, college athletes are just like all other hardworking Americans who should receive a fair day's pay for a fair day's work’’(www.usnews.com). And if people want it to be fair with people's pay then this would be a fair thing to do. But many people believe that NCAA athletes are paid just in a different way. ‘’Many people argue that these athletes may not be paid with money, but instead they are paid with exposure. Many college athletes go on to play for major leagues like the NFL and make millions of dollars. This is due largely to the exposure and play time that they received in college. Along with
