Two philosophers Andy Clark and David Chalmers made a statement in their essay by saying , “the mind is something more: a system made up of the brain plus parts of its environment” (Zimmer, 2009, p.1). Which means our mind are affected by things that are in our environment. If we look at it in terms of technology, we use technology to store information that we need. He also gave an example of how this work by comparing two people, Inga with a normal brain and, Otto who has Alzheimer's (p. 1). They both wanted to go see a museum, but Otto can’t remember the location of the museum (p. 1). Instead, he wrote it down on his notebook and got to the museum (p. 1). What this comparison showed was how we used the stuff in our surroundings as a source to store information. Through these electronic objects, we can browse the web and connect with friends from the other side of the world. Personally, I used Google everyday to look up words that I don’t know. In that sense, Google is actually making me smarter, which contradicts to what Carr said about how Google is making us stupid. Not only that, we can read journal articles, news, and magazines using Google. In addition to that, I use Google maps to go to places that I don't know how to get there. There are so many things that you can do on Google. As a matter of fact, I can conclude that Google is the best search engine out there and people who don’t know how to use electronics are missing out big
