Analysis Of Two Kinds

“Two Kinds” is a story based on a mother and daughter, and how they had their own opinions on how the daughter should be. The mother wanted the best for her daughter, but she also wanted her daughter become something she wasn’t, a child prodigy. The daughter tried to please her mother but in the end she just wanted to be herself, to stick to her own mindset, not her mother's. She tried everything in beginning that her mother wanted her to do, but later grew out of trying to please her mom because she believed it to be unrealistic. She knew she just wasn’t the child that could become a prodigy, at least she didn’t believe that she could be. She wasn’t a genius, she just wanted to do things on her own. She took the piano lessons her mother told her to take even though her teach was deaf, she did learn some things, but it didn’t help her when he couldn’t hear the times she messed up. After being embarrassed in front of her whole community at a talent show she gave up completely and told her mother that she quit. Her mother disapproved and became angry with her. They went back and forth with hateful comments until the daughter brought up her mother's past, that’s when everything has stopped. They didn’t talk for a while until her 13th birthday when her mother gave her the piano, but she didn’t take it because it had been so long since she had played. After her mother passed, she got the piano to be tuned and tried playing it, she said it never sounded so smooth. When she started to play she realized it was so easy and everything she learned came back to her. Ever since I was little my mom and dad have wanted me become a nurse or doctor just like my mom. I did want to become a nurse like my mom in the beginning but I grew apart from it as I grew older and I found a lot more stuff I was more into becoming. When I was about 10 I loved baking a lot and so I told myself I would become a baker, my parents did support me because well, I was just a little kid. Now, as I’m getting older my mindset has changed quite a bit. I found my passion was to become a professional photographer, photography is something I absolutely love. My parents still support me but they do find that it’ll be hard for me to make a living with just being a photographer. I was mad that they thought that for a while but I agreed with them in the end. I know it’ll be hard but if I am to mix in two things I love doing very much then I know I will succeed. I've decided to study photojournalism when I go into college, it’ll give the chance to write a story behind each photo I take, which I personally think is incredible. I want to become a sports photojournalist because writing about sports is so incredibly cool, it’ll give me the chance to possibly re-live all the sports I have played and learn about the ones I have never seen or done.
