The article reports that kids as young as nine years old are forced into the possession of the Ivory Coast business and imprisoned in child slave labor. (Zetterstrom, paragraph 4) It’s difficult for me to comprehend that such young children are involuntarily taken into the Ivory Coast business to serve as slaves. People must have no moral values in order to participate in acts such as smuggling and enslaving youthful boys and girls into this business. Not to mention, the slaves are abused and harmed while working. “He had no idea what his future had in store for him, full of vicious and brutal beatings (the slaves were usually beaten or flogged with bicycle chains or branches from trees.)” (Zetterstrom, paragraph 5) On top of being separated from their families and loved ones, the slaves are ruthlessly being beaten by the people in charge of the company. They’re not even getting paid or sleeping in proper living
