The inner desires of individuals often become the mechanism of moving forward in life. It is through these desires, one develops a purpose to life. However, society plays an effective role in misleading individuals, and having them conform to the norm of society. In the image, “Diogene ou la Lucidite”, Gilbert Garcin illustrates that when individuals understand that conforming to society is not necessary, they develop the courage to pursue personal desires, which results in the ability to move further in life. However, the standards of society will continue to be a burden for the individual. Society will act as a barrier to prevent individuals from being different and pursuing their desires.
