The goal of this chapter is to find out if stereotype threat really require an existing concern to triggered stereotype threat and affect different group of people.
Main focus (topic) of the text: The main focus in chapter five of steel reading is to prove the many experiences of stereotype threat negative impact on student academic performance and it not just a internalized message.

Steele stated that students are at the limit of their skill, the pressure and motive to challenge stereotype threat will only hurt the student academic performance because it stressful and a distraction. But if the assignment are easier than it less stressful and thee frustration less intense that challenging the stereotype will only boost student performance any group.
This passage is an important part of the reading because it demonstrated that when student are at the frontier of their skill it can create an impact on the student's performance but when the student are not their critical point the disproving stereotype will only boost the student performance. This quote also help explain and connect us to Steele idea of over-efforting that it might be the cause of
