In this paper base in a story All Over by the French writer, Guy de Maupassant is how reality plays in one of the character called Lormerin. In the story, Lormerin is a single middle age men, he shows himself as a self centered, vain even narcissist. He has a considerable large mirror in his dressing room in which he glimpse himself and he said “Lormerin is still alive”(Maupassant 1), I am still a handsome man.

She felt the years past, and even the way she express about herself “come and dine with her this evening, with the elderly Baronne de Vance” she feels old and looks old. Lise is very aware of her self and surroundings, for this reason made more difficult to understand what were her intentions with her letter. In the first place Lormerin was her lover, she really loves him and maybe she still do, her husband died maybe she wants to find that love again since there is nothing in between of them. However, is most likely that her feeling about him are resentful. How he didn’t come to the rescue from the gouty, pimply baron that took her away from him? And how could he ignore the news of the birth of her daughter ?. Of course he was to busy with himself feeding his ego. Lormerin was looking forward for the dinner not only for the feelings he had once, his appearance was important to him and thinking in the illusion seeing himself next to her and still look young and handsome of course he will look great next to her.
