In the “im just bill” song by School house rock, it only goes over the brief aspects of the complicated long process on how a bill becomes a law. In the song, it states like most things, the bill starts off as an idea. Mostly these ideas come from problems that arise in the American society. The problems then go forth as ideas to a congress man in which that he has to agree with. If the congress man agrees then he we will write the bill which will later be presented to the committee and will stay in the committee for a long time. If the committee agrees on the bill, then the bill is passed on to house of representatives. Next the house of representatives vote on the bill and if it is passed, then it will go to the senate to also get voted on. If it passes through both the senate and the house of representatives, then the bill will go to the white house where the president can either veto the bill or make it a law. In the entire process if the bill is denied in the committee, house of representatives, senate or vetoed by the president the bill will die. Although if the bill gets vetoed by the president the bill can be revised in the senate and sent through the process again. Even though the video did a great job in describing the main points of how a bill becomes a law it does not cover all of the detail that actually goes into creating a law. In the School House Rock video, it shows a very simple version of how a bill is passed, even though it is effective in explain all the main points of how it is passed though the branches of government, the process is a lot more descriptive then the video explains. …show more content…
In fact, it is a very long difficult process to pass a bill. Lobbyists try to influence what goes in the bill and interest groups are the people that are in support of the bill and want all of there ideas expressed in the bill. Both of these roles are critical parts of the billing process. If it weren’t for these two important groups, then the billing process will be a lot more difficult because it helps set aside the important points. When creating a bill, you have to keep in count for the people that vote for you back into congress which can skew the opinion of what you actually think instead of the the wealthy campaign contributor thinks. If they don’t agree with the bill, then they will not be investing in the congress man which means the contributor with the most money will win because we live a competitive society in which everyone has self interests. The government can be corrupt and in some ways can skew how thing function but the billing process can be a way a congress man can get future votes and is only meant for good intentions. All in all, the billing process is a lot more in depth complicated process that involves a lot of people to ensure the passing of a law. Interest groups and lobbyists are important roles in the billing process. Interest groups effectively help the congress men know what the people of America want in the bill. The lobbyist help keep the congress men stay in check and try to skew the thoughts of some of the ideas
