They believed it was natural for man to want to be free from any type of authority. Ironically, the people fighting for their freedom (the Patriots) were the same people who threatened others to join them in the fight against the British government (Doc 5). In reality, many colonist had no independence from the british nor from their fellow colonist.
[conclusion] By the time the American Revolution took place, Americans were long fed up with the british and their obsessive taxation. The colonies were ready to be free and govern themselves. Unfortunately, they had no idea how hard that was going to be. Once the war was over and the colonies now could govern themselves they faced economic issues that left them wondering if they should have stayed under british government.
