Some say American Football is the best sport in the world, read on to find why. American Football grew out from sports such as rugby and soccer and became popular on American college campuses around the late 1800s. Today, the most watched television in the united states the superbowl. The NFL has an annual revenue of $9 billion, with a profit of $1 billion dollars. In 1962 CBS paid $4.65 million in 1962 for the first exclusive rights to broadcast NFL games besides the NFL championship. American Football is a great sport.

After 1869 in 1876 At the Massasoit convention, the first rules for the American football were on paper.. Walter Camp, who became known as the father of American football and who first became involved with the game. In an era in which football was a major attraction of local athletic clubs, a competition between two Pittsburgh-area clubs, the Allegheny Athletic Association and the Pittsburgh Athletic Club, led to the making of the first professional football player. Former Yale All-American guard William Heffelfinger was paid $50 by the Allegheny Athletic Association to play in a game against the Pittsburgh Athletic Club, officially becoming the first person to be paid money to play football, November 12. The Allegheny Athletic Association won the game 4-0 when Heffelfinger picked up a Pittsburgh Athletic Club fumble and ran 35 yards for a touchdown, in 1912 a touchdown was changed from five points to six points. The teams were from four states-Akron, Canton, Cleveland, and Dayton from Ohio, the Hammond pros and Muncie flyers from Indiana, the Rochester Jeffersons from New York and the name of the Rock Island Independents, Decatur Staleys and Racine Cardinals from Illinois, The name of the league was changed to the American Football Association. Hoping to capitalize on his fame as the members elected Thorpe as president and Stanley Cofall of Cleveland was elected vice president. A membership fee of $100 per team was charged to give an appearance of respectability, but not one team ever paid it. Scheduling was left up to the teams, and there were wide variations, both in the overall number of games played and in the number played against American Professional Football Association member teams.Four other teams-the Buffalo All-Americans, Chicago Tigers, Columbus Panhandles, and Detroit Heralds-joined the league sometime during the year. On September 26, the first game featuring an American Professional Football association team was played at Rock Island's Douglas Park. A crowd of 800 watched the Independents defeat the St. Paul Ideals 48-0. A week later, October 3, the first game matching two American Professional Football Association teams was held.
