American Eagle Credit Union Atmosphere Analysis

Since the beginning of currency’s existence, people have centered around the use of financial institutions to allow them to comfortably handle their money in a safe and secure manner. At American Eagle Credit Union, located at the Butler Hill Rd and Tesson Ferry Rd, crossing the overall atmosphere can be defined through how people use their senses to get an overall feeling of their environment. The senses most relevant and influential to the banking atmosphere are what is seen, what you can smell, and what you can hear. The first thing seen upon entering an establishment often sets the first impression of the atmosphere. Upon entry through two sets of glass doors, you can see a touchscreen located on a round desk with promotional slips in a cubby underneath. The architecture of the entrance is set in a round orientation with a large, rounded light fixture in the center of the ceiling. If you continue past the round desk, you will approach the teller line and as so they greet you with warm, evocative voices to make you feel welcome. All wear friendly faces and gracious smiles who are happy to help. You can smell the women wearing perfume and the men wearing cologne. The ladies smell of fruit and citrus while the gentlemen has natural crisp scent that gives you a warm, fuzzy feeling inside. Looking at their attire you see the women wearing bright colored dresses with an array of bright blue, red, yellow, and lime green. The men wear either plain dress shirts or striped polos along with black dress slacks. Just behind the tellers, you can see a check printing machine that flashed with fancy, red lights when printing a check. As one of tellers prints a check the very abrupt sound of the machine putting the print on the check scratches at your ears and is not comforting. Next to that there is a moneygram machine that makes a very similar noise but more subtle and less disturbing to the ears. At the end of that back wall you can see a printing machine with a flashing green light letting you know the machine is ready to print. As any printer in professional work environment you hear the machine warm up. Then smoothly yet quicking printing out the paper with no disturbing scratching, only the warm hum which satisfies the ears. Above the printer and to upper right you can see a 42’ flat screen tv that displays current promotions, job openings within the company, and updates on the news and stock market. If we head back to the entrance and look to our right we can see an enclosed office with a sign on the door ‘Branch Manager’. Inside of the office sits the manager herself as she diligently works to get her paperwork done. She herself wears minimal perfume, only able to be sensed if you get in …show more content…
The Keurig Machine fills the air with the strong, soothing smell of hazelnut coffee. Past the waiting area you can four desks, two in one area and two in another. The desks are divided by a wooden wall meant to split the area between the two desks for others privacy. Once members of the credit union sign in they are greeted by bankers to pull them over to their desks to go over whatever it is that they had signed in for. On each desk you can see two monitors, pen holders, and a signature pad. The bankers use rolling chairs to sit at their desks and above the desks they have cubbies to store all of their promotions and product information slips. Just behind the pair of desks on the left side sits a printer which makes a warm, soothing hum when printing paper. In the chairs on the left sided pair of desks you see women with sleek dresses and cutely colored skirts. One of the ladies smells of green apples and the other of a rose garden. On the right side pair of desks you see men wears dress shirts with plaid ties and black dress pants. The men smell of both aftershave and strong cologne. One that smells like a dense leaf forest and the other smelling of synthetic version of Old

Kathryn, as a new store manager, needs to gain the confidence and trust of her department heads and sales associates. Part of accomplishing this task is by providing her employees the opportunity to communicate with her through an open-door policy when it comes to questions or concerns with tasks. Kathryn also needs to become better acquainted with the employees and, to me, the best way is to be on the sales floor and participate in day to day operations. The purpose of this is two-fold: showing her employees she is approachable and that she is knowledgeable of stores products and practices. To enhance and reinforce the lines of communication, store meetings should be scheduled.…
