These people can look for a better life, can take advantage of job opportunities, and can practice their religion freely. This is the reason that America is their go-to. Most immigrants move, not only for themselves, but for their family too. They are willing to do whatever it takes to make sure their children succeed. Success to them can be simply providing enough for their household, and watching their children move on. An immigrant named Thomas Peterffy said, "It was a big deal to leave home and my culture and my language. But I believed that in America, I could truly reap what I sowed and that the measure of a man was his ability and determination to succeed. This was the land of boundless opportunity" (Burke). In relation to this statement, both of my parents had the same experience when they were poor and young and came to the United States. My grandparents struggled, but managed to get them all the way through high school. My father was too poor to go to college, so he has been doing risky physical labor since he was young to provide for my family. Even now he gets hurt on the job, but he cannot really do or say much. He has always worked hard to achieve success, not just for him, but for us too. My mother, on the other hand, went to college. I am aware that discrimination occurs here, but America is on the path to fixing it by offering countless opportunities to those who are discriminated upon. America allows immigrants, provides education, and supplies financial aid. All of which allow the American Dream to continue throughout the country.
