There are several cultures across the world but there are all different from one another.
Culture is the knowledge, language, values, customs, and material objects that are passed from person to person and from one generation to the next in a human group or society. (According Kendall Diana, 2014, Sociology in Our Times 10th Edition). The two cultures that I chose are American and China cultures. I chose American and Chinese because I want to learn more about both of the cultures. Both of these cultures have their similarities along and both have their own unique differences. In this paper I will describe about their language, etiquette, holidays and symbols of American and China cultures.
First off there is no official language is United States. In America I would say at least 80 percent of people speak and understand English. The common language for China is Cantonese and Mandarin. I don’t know in the United States there is no official language. While doing this research paper I didn’t know much about China. But I have watched several of movies with Americans going to China. An example of the movies would be The Karate Kid (2010). In the movie the mother and son was from Detroit, Michigan and they had to move to Beijing, China because of her job transfer. In the movie they had to adapt China culture. But I think using that movie was a great example for my research paper because of the two culture chose. America and China is very different I learn a lot about China culture and read some interesting fact about China culture.
