After the Constitution was written in 1787, many believed that the new government would still be giving too much power to the people running it instead of to the people. A group lead by Patrick Henry, Samuel Adams, and James Monroe called the Anit-Federalists went against the Constitution because they believed it gave too many powers to congress and did not specify enough human rights. They also believed that the checks and balances system will fair and the executive brach will turn into a monarchy. In fear that the states would not ratify the Constitution, James Madison composed a bill of nine articles of 20 amendments that limited power to congress to be added to the Constitution on July 8, 1789. Twelve of these were selected by congress…
The addition of the amendments during the reconstruction had a big impact on many citizens of the United States. Although the amendments created all dealt with different issues they all had something in common. The amendment in their own ways all had major impacts on our citizens. They all gave some kind of effect to our people some in good ways while others in bad ways.…
Oz Hewett The Political Product The Constitution is document laying out the frame of America’s government, written by the creators of this country on a piece of parchment. This document has done a good job of making sure the rights of the people are protected, and that the United States maintains order. After the writing of the Constitution, there were ten amendments made to it, commonly know as the Bill of Rights.…
Throughout all of American history, no other document has maintained an equally important and ever changing role in our government than the United States Constitution. The Constitution drew the plans for the creation the three branches of government and provided the structure on which the national government would grow. The most famous aspect of the Constitution is the Bill of Rights. Written by James Madison as a response to the States’ demands that individual liberties be provided and protected, the Bill of Rights serves to establish the personal rights of every man in America. Among these rights are the right to counsel, which is preserved in the Sixth Amendment, and the right to not withstand or be subjected to cruel or unusual punishment,…
The Bill of Rights to every American is the crown jewel center piece of our constitution and from which just about all legal proceedings are based from. Akhil Reed Amar's "The Bill of Rights as a constitution" pages 1131-1210 and 1193-1284, details and analyzes the strengths and weaknesses of the Bill of Rights. Amendments such as the fifth, ninth, and tenth are currently the sole topic of college courses such as Constitutional Law, the sixth, eighth, and a majority of the fifth are taught in Criminal Procedure and the seventh is taught in Criminal Procedure. Teaching these amendments to Americans is essential so that when issues arise we can have the knowledge we've learned right on hand. In the current day and age interpretations of the…
An Amendment is a minor change in a document (which in this case would be the adding of laws for the country). I believe one Constitutional amendment that had changed America would be the 13th, simply because it abolished slavery. For a country that is so reliant on religion to guide them, you’d think slavery wouldn’t even be a thing considering how much God dislikes it (Exodus 21:16). Not to mention the way White Americans treated their slaves was just completely disgusting. Ever since White Americans found the “negroes” in Africa they considered them slaves and shipped them unwillingly to America it's been an injustice to humanity.…
The passage of the Fourteenth Amendment had a profound effect on the Constitution and on this country in that it introduced the concept of equality and due process, promising “equal protection of the laws.” You asked why it was important for all levels of government to ensure that due process protections are afforded to its citizens. Government, in order to ensure a valid legal system, must demonstrate a commitment to follow its own laws. The concept of due process embodies that commitment. The due process clause of the Fourteenth Amendment promises that before depriving a citizen of life, liberty or property, government must follow fair procedures.…
After the end of the Civil war, some changes had to be made to accommodate the newly changed America. The government though that the best way to change, would be by adding three new amendments to the Constitution. The three new amendments were the 13th, which abolished slavery in the Unites states, the 14th amendment, which gave citizens rights and equal protection of law, and finally the 15th amendment, which gave each and every citizen of the United States the right to vote. During this time period know as the Gilded Age, however, many of the citizens and residents currently residing American were not having their 14th amendment rights being…
Today, there are 27 total amendments that were added to protect the interests and inalienable rights of all citizens so that no one is deprived of life, liberty,…
The 13th,14th and 15th amendment are important because they are known as the civil war amendments and were made to ensure equality to african americans. 13th amendment is probably the most important because it ended slavery in any part of the United States. The 14th amendment was also pretty important because it stated that anyone born in the U.S are legal citizens. 15th amendment is still important because it gave African Americans the right to vote. The 13th amendment is probably the most important out of these 3 because it is the abolishment of slavery which was the biggest problem back then for African Americans.…

Amendment one “The fear of being different prevents most people from seeking new ways to solve their problems.” ( Kiyosaki 2016) This quotes means that since most people want to be the same as others they are scared to find a different way to solve their problems. This quotes relates to amendment one and it is important because, if amendment one did not exist humans, would all be the same.…
Chase’s why the First Amendment is important to protect First let me elaborate on what the First Amendment entails. The First Amendment guarantees us the freedom of religion, speech, press, petition, and assembly. Having the First Amendment as it is today introduces people to lots of things that the government would probably have banned or prevented us from seeing if we didn 't have the First Amendment. the government could make it to where anyone who doesn 't agree with them cant voice their opinions which would prevent us from experiencing the things we can and do today. When the First Amendment is upheld by SCOTUS ( Supreme Court of The United State) it further fortifies it making are freedoms more secure.…
Furthermore, they included all the rights of the citizens living the U.S. Included in some of these rights were, the right to bear arms, the right to no excessive bails, and the right against unreasonable searches. However, there is one amendment that stands tall above the rest, one that is far more better than the other nine, this reformation is the first amendment. The reasons why this amendment is the most important improvement, is because it formed the nation, allows people to have the freedom of speech, and the freedom of assembly and religion. Firstly, amendment one formed this nation and made the U.S. how it is today.…
Rights of the State under Constitution. Out of those ten amendments, I believe the most important one that most American would pay attention to is 1, 2 and 4. The reason why I think this is every American want to be able to express their opinion/religion, most American feels that they need to have weapons in their home to protect their family and American do not like to be stop and search for no apparent…
