“All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside...; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws(Amend. 14 Sec 1).” This quote shows, If someone of a different color was born in the United States they wouldn’t get equal rights because they have a different colored skin. Amendment 14 says that if you are born in the United States you get equal rights as other people would. “... But neither the United States nor any State shall assume or pay any debt or obligation incurred in aid of insurrection or rebellion against the United States, or any claim for the loss or emancipation of any slave; but all such debts, obligations and claims shall be held illegal and void”( Amend. 14, sec. 4). No States should try to buy or smuggle slaves after they have been set free. This quote explains that no states should pay for any rebellions against the U.S. or to fix the loss of slaves. There will be a person who would do this because he will want to enslave this person because he is a different color than him. Let's say that you went to a store but you meet a person with lighter skin than your own so that means he could enslave you and your slaves.
