Wright was originally known to be a field hockey player until one day when she decided to participate in her village’s local fun run. She ended the run doing surprisingly well and her passion for running sparked. At the age of fourteen, Wright had a decision to make; field hockey or running? Well, considering she wasn’t as robust as a typical field hockey player and she enjoyed the competitiveness and individuality of running, she committed her future to running.
Support was consistently shown to Wright and her passion for running. At a young age, her oldest sister, Amy, ensured her that she could achieve greatness in the world of running; greatness such as competing in the Olympics. She never saw herself living in the desert and she didn’t do much research on UNM but in the end it became on of the best decisions she’s ever made. Since the beginning of her journey as a Lobo, she has been able to achieve running dreams that wouldn’t have been possible if she had stayed in England. “I’m just so grateful that I have had this opportunity, honestly, in my wildest dreams I would’ve never imagined to have these opportunities when I was in high school.
