Following is the steps that each player may take on their turn. 1. Deal out the cards into piles and hands.…
That night at the silent film I really enjoyed the way you carried yourself in front of the audience Donald. You introduced into the gateway community college silent film with grace and in a very elegance manner. The Theater organist was such a beautiful peice of artistic attribution to the silent film. the clean sound flowed with tranquility throughout the presentation from inception to ending.…
Violence is a major problem in American culture, and many people wonder about the role of media. With all of the gun violence happening across the nation at the hands of our youth, one must wonder where the cause of this violence stems from. In John Leo’s article, “When Life Imitates Video”, the author firmly believes that violent youth behavior is associated with media violence. Throughout his article, the author attempts to persuade his audience of the impact video games have on children. He begins to build his credibility with personal facts, citing reputable sources, and engaging emotional appeals.…
This is the stop motion animation titled Bee Mine. This title has been carefully chosen, this is to make it enigmatic to captivate attention from the audience towards what the animation is about. I edited the video once completed, through ensuring the illustration completed is clear and it is precise and picture-perfect.…
Comparison Between The Rite of Spring and Appalachian Spring The Rite of Spring (1913), composed by Igor Stravinsky, and Appalachian Spring (1944), by Aaron Copland, are ballets that center around folk culture. The Rite of Spring suggests a story of human sacrifice and has an overall a harsh and almost disturbing mood. Appalachian Spring tells the story of a new couple celebrating their new house and is lively and happy. The two ballets stem from a common base of folk culture, yet the mood of each one is very different due to the individual emotions that the composers wanted to express.…
Misty Copeland is a woman who defied all the odds and ended up becoming the first African-American principal dancer for the American Ballet Theatre. In her autobiography Life in Motion, Copeland depicts her life as a young woman before her days of ballet until recently. This book particularly stands out as a commendable autobiography because Misty writes this book as a story a form of empowerment to “the little brown girls” who do not think that they are able to fight despite all of the odds. Other reasons why this book stands out in the autobiographical realm is the metaphor “life in motion” as well as Copeland’s characterization of characters such as Cindy. One of the things that stood out this book is her consistent repetition of the sentence…
Performing gestures ranging from hand motions to body movements to form a unique art that is different than one self “allows the emergence of the being-in-a-medium of human beings” (Agamben 57). It is through the human body that makes choreographed dance and impersonation possible, but unfortunately it takes great efforts to maintain the performance of this art. In the scene where Scottie first meets Madeleine at the restaurant, Hitchcock presents the elegance Judy mimics as the actress: her body gestures are smooth, her arms barely move as she walks. Her long dress mimics the shape of a ghost and she seems to glide just like one; nothing about her is choppy or disorganized (Hitchcock 17:50-18:26). But when Scottie first meets Judy walking with her friends in the streets, her gestures contrast greatly from Madeleine’s with her arms swinging quickly as she walks, her hands making inelegant, jagged gestures, and her confident strides (Hitchcock 1:31:50-1:32:38).…
Maintaining motion vertices in a film is one of the trickiest parts of the craft. Motion vertices are like invisible lines that track the path of a moving object, in life or on screen, these must not be broken. The reason is because on screen has to match up to life, in that it must mirror life in this case senario, as the film is set in this realm of reality. Besides that motion vertices were maintained throughout the entire film, even during scenes when two characters are on opposite sides of the set, for instance when Romeo is listening to Juliet in the balcony scene. When this occurred they showed Romeo moving towards the camera, therefore towards Juliet, meaning the film production had maintained the motion vertices of Romeo.…
Dr. Taylor’s From #BLACKLIVESMATTER to Black Liberation, A Movement, Not A Moment she argues in chapter six that young African American people are getting killed for nothing, and how the African American culture should stand together to transform these social conditions. African Americans are supposed to be living in a world of equality, but all they’ve been getting is racial inequality & racial profiling. In order for those changes to be made they need an event that will drive people out from isolation, and join the movement. The truth about racism and police brutality is that it has broken through the veil of segregation that has concealed it from public view. Dr. Taylor starts building her credibility with her personal experiences, the emotional appeal to her readers making young people question is it safe to go outside with actual cases that deal with police brutality; however,…
Being an advocate is about taking an experience and influencing others to make a difference. Advocacy “is ‘answering the call’ to make a positive difference for yourself and others, for your community or the worlds” (Capecci and Cage 25). Every story has a meaning, and these meanings can be summed up in 6 words. I have thought about experiences in my life and came up with three six word reasons.…
The essay “Los Intersticios: Recasting Moving Selves” by Evelyn Alsultany, introduces a still existing issue in our society. The Author Evelyn Alsultany shows in this essay, her own collection of struggles, in having a mixed racial background. “The bridge becomes my back as I feign belonging, and I become that vehicle for others, which desires for myself” (Alsultany, 236). Evelyn finds herself constantly in the situation of being questioned by other strangers from which ethnic background she’s coming from, because she doesn’t look like the typical American.…
Non-verbal communication is the ability to interact with an individual or more without the usage of words and is used to send out a message through the usage of various signals and symbols. This method of communication is misleading to an extant since one cannot always interpret the real message which is trying to be conveyed. In this essay, the movie Mean Girls, will be examined and explained through the usage of the 8 non-verbal communication methods. Kinesics Kinesics is the study of physical, body motion communication (Angelopulo & Steinberg, 2015:92).…
For this story “Videotape” it feels as if Don DeLillo had heard of the term “Mondo film” (or as it is also known Shockumantry) and was inspired by it to write a story of someone who would be a viewer of these kind of films. A “Mondo film” is a sub genre of exploitation films that take a documentary/pseudo documentary style focusing on taboo subjects such as death real or fake. Don DeLillo 's “Videotape” shows us a man who has become desensitized to violence. The character in the story is a man who has been consumed by the media; He can no longer be entertained by fictional programs and their violence, but now seeks out his entertainment in the real world.…
From 1914-1918, Americans were concerned with the war in Europe and the United States’ eventual involvement in 1917. Prior to 1917, Americans did not want to be involved with WWI just as Americans didn’t want to be involved in WWII in the early 1940’s. Despite America’s desire to remain out of the war (Leuchtenburg 12), German attacks on U.S. ships in both wars forced the hands of the Presidents. Charlie Chaplin’s, Shoulder Arms (1918), came out at the end of WWI and made the U.S. public aware of the conditions of war and the unrealistic fantasies about the heroism of fighting in the war. Chaplin plays an uncoordinated soldier who faced obstacle after obstacle in the trenches of the Western Front and in the end, he realized it was all for nothing.…
