The code is in place to protect both the teacher and the student and it lists disciplinary actions for violating the code. Professional conduct, honesty and integrity are also addressed. The NEA Code of Ethics for Teachers states that all students are entitled to equal and high quality education and that teachers should never abuse their position of power. It clearly states that teachers are not to take advantage of students or colleagues in any way. They should always be honest, represent their profession well, and maintain appropriate relationships with students. Lastly, the Model Code of Ethics for Educators was designed to hold educators to the highest standards. Responsibility and ethical conduct are key points of this code. Throughout my program, Cooperating Teachers will supervise my field experience, the faculty of School of Education will assess my professional attitude, and if at any point I show an inadequate disposition, the appropriate outcomes will ensue. UAB will assess my ethical and professional conduct, sensitivity, effectiveness, communication skills, how I handle feedback, my commitment to the education profession, and my ability to fulfil responsibilities.
