Afire Love The coffee stained papers waited under the pew, and Ed sat over them, lamenting the passing of the inspiration for the song, whose draft was perched under the seat beneath him. In a church filled with people clothed in black, superfluously embellished in lovely flowers, Ed sat in the front row and watched his Grandfather, aged 86, serenely settled in his casket. His angular face was almost too dead and pale that he looked inhuman. Ed grabbed his Grandmother’s hand and gave it a subtle, delicate squeeze, in hopes it would soothe the ache that burned from the love of her life’s body departing from his soul. Looking at the long box, he gave a disdainful stare, knowing the body laying down was not ready to die. Ed studied the body carefully, which engendered him to think about the first time he was informed about the horrifying disease that his Grandfather was diagnosed with.
When his Grandfather spoke the words from his aged, crusty lips, Ed was bound to know there had been an issue, one he was yet to discover. A visit to Grandma and Grandpa’s house in Wexford, Ireland always brought joy, especially to little Ed Sheeran, a young boy who would soon turn out to be one of the greatest singers and songwriters of his generation. Ed loved his Grandma and looked up to his Grandfather so much for his fun and loving spirit. As he greeted his Grandma at the door, she hugged him and held him tightly in her sweet frail arms. Next was his Grandfather, his loving Grandfather. As the little ginger boy approached the man, words that would soon become a crucial part of the pair’s relationship tumbled quickly from the man’s lips. “Who are you?” These words were perceived by Ed as a joke, for little Ed was unaware his Grandfather had no idea who the boy with his hands out in front of him, prepared for a hug, standing in front of him was. William Murray Sheeran, often called Bill, Grandfather of Ed Sheeran, was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and suffered with it for twenty years before his death in 2013. Through the years, Bill Sheeran’s condition progressively got worse and worse, and shortly, it was difficult to discern a stranger

Calling attention to his case of Alzheimer’s, Ed began the ballad by writing,
“Things were all good yesterday, until the devil took your memory. And if you fell to your death today, I hope that heaven is your resting place.” (Sheeran 1-8) The emotional song journeyed through Ed’s Grandfather’s experience with the irreversible disease, and his family’s experience. In the chorus, Ed wrote about his Grandma’s old stories, which shared the collapsed love between Ed’s grandparents.
“Although my Grandma used to say, that he used to sing ‘Darlin' hold me in your arms the way you did last night and we'll lie inside for a little while here. Oh, I could look into your eyes until the sun comes up, and we're wrapped in light, and life, and love. Put your open lips on mine and slowly let them shut, for they're designed to be together. Oh, with your body next to mine, our hearts will beat as one and we set alight. We're afire love.’” (Sheeran

Gwendolyn Brooks’s poem old relative begins with a commentary on death, that is somewhat flustered into a morality poem. The poems morality contemplation is not an austere good or evil, but a just-unjust analysis of social institutions. They believe it takes time for someone to fall in love, that only with time can a person fall in love so intensely and greatly. It has become ever so much easier to get a divorce after 1969, when a was law passed stating that infidelity charges or physical abuse did not have to be present in order to get a divorce (Evolution). This would eventually lead to people not caring as much about who or when they marry, because it doesn 't have to be forever anymore. The problem is people do not put in the effort or time to fix their marriage, and rush into it not thinking about the long term commitment that…
